SPN Began Operation of 40 MW Solar Project in Lopburi, Thailand
Sermsang Palang Ngan Co., Ltd (SPN), which is now a subsidiary of Sermsang Power Corporation Public Company Limited, has completed Sermsang Solar project (SS), its first and flagship project of 40 MW (52 MW installed) solar farm in Lopburi, Thailand. SS is under contract with Electricity of Generating Authority of Thailand on a Non-Firm basis that renews every five years. SS will sell electricity with an adder of 6.50 baht per kwh for ten years from commercial operation date.
SS project was initiated by a new generation of management. The management team foresees future market potential of renewable energy playing an important role in driving economic growth in Thailand. With extensive support and subsidy by the government, the management team was able to create a foundation on which the company can thrive and grow.
SS is constructed by Sharp Corporation, Italthai Engineering Co., Ltd. and Italian Thai Development PLC. The solar power plant deployed thin-film solar modules which perform at phenomenal efficiency under high temperature. Construction started on March 2014 and was completed in February 2015.
